Kali and Shiva

In this depiction, Kali—the supreme manifestation of Shakti—rages across the battlefield of the mind, systematically dismantling the Asuras of ego, pride, and temptation. She is the ‘Great Time,’ her four arms acting as a cosmic clock that sweeps through the twelve Sanskrit signs of the zodiac, governing the rhythm of existence itself.

Beneath her, Shiva (representing Pure Consciousness) clings to her amidst the howling, dusty winds of the material world. He is the anchor in her storm. The painting captures the precise, breathless moment of Pratyabhijna (Recognition): as Kali’s foot touches Shiva, her destructive fury dissolves into divine awareness. In this contact, the ‘Cosmic Clock’ finds its center, the ego is vanquished, and the universe is restored to a state of perfect, silent balance.
